• [mac, Xcode] Xcode 4.2 update, crash on opening project

  well hello there!
  i just updated to Xcode 4.2 on snow leopard (10.6.8) since 4.0.something kept crashing on me.. well, 4.2 wasn’t much better! when trying to open one of my projects it would crash immediately. i did the usual stuff, (re)moving

  ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dt.Xcode.plist

  but to no effect. when i checked the crash log i saw that i got some ui-based reason:

  ...
  ASSERTION FAILURE in /SourceCache/DVTKit/DVTKit-907/Framework/Classes/Tabs/DVTTabBarView.m:1532
  Details:  Assertion failed: maxX >= minX
  ...

  so i figured i’d check out what my workspace file (or actually folder) contained. after firing up iTerm and navigating to

  <project-dir>/<project-name>.xcworkspace/xcuserdata/<username>.xcuserdatad/

  i found the file UserInterfaceState.xcuserstate. having had a few beers i didn’t feel like going thru a gazillion rows of apple-xml just to fix some layout-crap so i simply (re)moved it. This fixed the problem.

• pointers for survival in norway

  second year here.. thought id share: bring your own beer (expensive), cheese (weird.. theyr right next to västerbotten, love pizza and still cant produce decent cheese) and house (ours burnt down). other than that its pretty awesome.

• awesome balance and kernel-compiling

  i just walked through most of my apartment balancing a beer on my head! you might think that this doesnt have anything to do with my last posts but beer lord you’re mistaking! i did this to pass the time while compiling the stable version of kernel 2.6.37.. unfortunately i messed up when applying some of the patches so now im doing it again (compiling that is, im out of beer). will prolly upload both an “kernel26-mba3″ aur-pkg and a binary-pkg (the binary will be placed here somewhere) so the ones that are not interested in looking at the ~40min compiling dont have to.
  Still havent got the nvidia-crap to work yet..

• test comp, kirunafestivalen and skallebang!

  the test comp is up and running xubuntu 9.04, fedora 11 and windows xp pe.. kirunafestivalen has started and im hung over/drunk!
